Those attributes are not physical. Arabic language has a lot of metaphorical weight. Our classical scholarship tells us that assigning body parts to God is blasphemy. Don't misrepresent Islam

If God is completely unlike creation, then how are we to understand all these verses that imply similarity between God and created things. What does it mean for God to have two right hands, fingers, a foot, a shin etc. These are not anatomical features akin to human body parts, but to the extent we use the same words to describe these features there must be some basic similarity between God and creatures. And then you have hadiths which explicitly state that men were created in the image of God. Despite all of this, how can God be "totally unlike" creation? I really don't understand the doctrine of Tanzih.

For Muslims and Christians, here are the actual differences between our books and scriptures, the New Testament and the Quran (they do agree there is no Trinity however and that Jesus is not God) - 1) The New Testament is clear that Jesus is God's son, one with a child-father relationship with him. Not only that but the entire Bible has no problem calling different creations his children (Angels, Israel, Christians, Adam). None of these mean biological child, of course thats impossible, God is one and has no wife. However, this never stopped Moses, the prophets, Jesus, or God from using "son" and "child" terminology. In Jesus case, "son" has two meanings. The King of Israel was titled "son of God" (Psalm 2:7, John 1:49), Jesus was of course the son of David, the promised special Anointed heir to the throne. Secondly, Jesus had a special origin, begetting, and birth. No human originator, it was God alone who started his life in his Mothers womb. Therefore, according to Luke and Matthew, God was his father, not Joseph (Luke 1:35). The last human being with a similar miraculous direct origin from God that did not require the union of a man and woman was Adam, also called son of God for that reason (Luke 3:38). The author of 1st John strictly warns that whoever refuses to confess Jesus as the son of God has proven God is not with him (1st John 4:15). The Quran, however, denies Jesus is the son of God and even forbids calling him or anyone else sons of God. 2) The New Testament completely teaches that Jesus died (and that God brought him back to immortal life and incredible power and authority). Not only does it teach that Jesus had suffered and died, but that it was part of Gods plan and that its necessary to believe this happened to please and obey God faithfully. The Quran teaches he only appeared to die. 3) The New Testament message from God through Jesus was not some vague message of "turn back to God" it was the urgent announcement of the desired yet looming coming of "the Kingdom of God" to the earth. The time when God would fulfill his promises he had made through the prophets to Israel [and the world] over the centuries (world peace - Isaiah 2:4, world knowledge of God - Habakkuk 2:14, ressurection of the dead - Daniel 12:2, immortal life - Daniel 12:2, freedom of Israel and Gods people, possesion of the earth by Gods people, royal authority given to Gods people over the earth, Gods presence on the earth, etc, all through the Messiah). *This* was what Jesus was sent to preach (Luke 4:43, Mark 1:14-15), that this time is ready to happen so get prepared because the King of that Kingdom (Jesus) had been born and is giving instructions on who he and God will let into this Kingdom and give positions of authority/power too! No teaching on going to heaven or having a soul that lives on after death and goes to heaven, it was about fixing and restoring the earth in resurrected, glorified and immortal bodies. Being given so much authority by God that you will even "judge Angels" (1st Corinthians 6:2-3). The Quran, as far as I know, has *no clue* about this message and doesn't prepare anyone on how to be accepted into it. 4) The New Testament authors wrote that Jesus, and God, had been teaching non-violence as a requirement to follow him and be accepted by him, most assuredly non-lethal violence. His followers were to "love your enemies" and "do not repay evil with evil". We are told to wait for God to give vengeance only, whether on judgement day or before then, and to pray for our enemies to repent and be spared it. The Quran allows for or possibly even demands violence, even lethal violence, even on a judicial level. 5) The New Testament is very clear, many of the laws of the flesh that God gave to Israel are not concerns of God right now. Circumcision, Mosaic dietary regulations (food laws), temple rituals and observance, and Mosaic holy day observations are not any commands of his for the world right now and do not contribute to your acceptance or rejection from the coming age of the Kingdom of God. The Quran teaches that God does care about food laws, holy days, and pilgrimages. ------------------------------- - These are the real differences between our scriptures, not the nonsense about the Trinity or God becoming a man, things both of our books never ever talk about or teach. However, what is written above *should* be what we talk about with each other, with respect and love, in order to get to the bottom of whats going on between our two faiths and our two prophets, because if I may be honest it does seem like they may be teaching two different things. Now, if I have misrepresented Islam or the Quran, please correct me and I will edit my post to make it more accurate. Thank you for reading, whoever read this this far.

For Muslims and Christians, here are the actual differences between our books and scriptures, the New Testament and the Quran (before you read, please note, they both agree there is no Trinity however and that Jesus is not God) - 1) - The New Testament is clear that Jesus is God's son, one with a child-father relationship with him. Not only that but the entire Bible has no problem calling different creations his "children" (Angels, Israel, Christians, Adam). None of these mean biological child, of course that's impossible, God is one and has no wife. However, this never stopped Moses, the prophets, Jesus, or God from using "son" and "child" terminology. In Jesus case, "son" has two meanings. The King of Israel was titled "son of God" (Psalm 2:7, John 1:49). Jesus was of course the "son of David", the promised special Anointed heir to the throne. Secondly, Jesus had a special origin, a unique begetting, and one of a kind birth. No human originator, it was God alone who started his life in his Mother Mary's womb. Therefore, according to Luke and Matthew, God was his father, not Joseph (Luke 1:35). The last human being with a similar miraculous direct origin from God that did not require the union of a man and woman was Adam, also called "son of God" for that reason (Luke 3:38). For us Christians, the author of one of our holy books "1st John" tells us to listen to those who confess Jesus as the son of God and that the one who confesses this has God with him (1st John 4:15). - The Quran seems to deny that Jesus is the son of God or even forbids calling him or anyone else sons of God. 2) - The New Testament completely teaches that Jesus died (and that God brought him back to life, but now immortal life along with new incredible power and authority). Not only does it teach that Jesus had suffered and died, but that it was part of Gods plan and that it's necessary to believe this happened to both please and obey God faithfully. - From what I am told, the Quran teaches he only appeared to die. 3) - The New Testament message from God through Jesus was not some vague message of "turn back to God" or to simply "submit to God", instead it was the urgent announcement of the desired yet looming coming of "the Kingdom of God" to the earth. The time when God would fulfill his promises he had made through the prophets to Israel [and the world] over the centuries. Promises of world peace - Isaiah 2:4, World-Wide knowledge of God - Habakkuk 2:14, Resurrection of the Dead - Daniel 12:2, Immortal life and re-access to the tree of life in Eden- Daniel 12:2, Freedom of Israel and Gods people, Possession of the Earth by Gods people - Matthew 5:5, Royal authority given to Gods people over the earth, Gods presence on the earth, etc, all through the Messiah. Being given so much authority by God that you will even "judge Angels" (1st Corinthians 6:2-3). - The Quran, as far as I have been told, doesn't teach about this message and doesn't prepare anyone on how to be accepted into it. 4) - The New Testament authors wrote that Jesus, and God, had been teaching non-violence as a requirement to follow him and be accepted by him, most assuredly non-lethal violence. His followers were to "love your enemies" and "do not repay evil with evil". The concept of God in Islam differs from the concept of God in judeo-christian traditions, although we believe in the same God worshipped by Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed. We Muslims believe that God is Almighty, the Lord and the Creator of heavens and earth, the Sustainer of everything, the Ever-Living, the All-knowing, Self-Sufficient, All Forgiving, the most Merciful. In the Bible, Almighty God regrets, wrestles with human, gets tired, praises a prophet for walking naked in front of his daughters, women and men for 3 years, asks his prophets to eat human poop, etc... We believe that God Almighty is the most Powerful, but God doesn't do ungodly things, God doesn't have a wife, parents, kids, uncles, grandparents. God Almighty can not die or become a monkey or a cockroach or a woman or a man. God can't be unjust or stupid or ignorant. God Almighty can't commit suicide, steal or rape. God Almighty does things that befits his majestic and might. This is the difference between the concept of God Almighty between Islam and the Bible. But we believe that the Prophets told us the truth about God. The books and the messages got corrupted, but the original messages were the same.

@@forgivenessseeker2023DId you actually read my post, my entire post? I have a strong feeling you certainly did not read it. Also, with all due respect, much of what you said about the Bible is simply fake and nonsense. For the sake of anyone who may be listening, in the same way I asked for correction for if I accidentally misrepresented the Quran I will correct forgivenessseekers unbelievably poor misrepresentation of God in the Bible.Though of course it will be up to you, the reader, to do your own reading of the Bible in prayer for the truth to see what it really says. "We Muslims believe that God is Almighty, the Lord and the Creator of heavens and earth, the Sustainer of everything, the Ever-Living, the All-knowing, Self-Sufficient, All Forgiving, the most Merciful." - It's the exact same thing in the Bible....? There's no disagreement between the Bible and Quran about this. The Bible claimed all these things all ready. - God is All-Mighty (Genesis 35:11, 2 Corinthians 6:18, Revelation 1:8). - He's Lord and Creator of the Heavens and the Earth (Genesis 1:1, Acts 17:24, Psalm 146:6). - He is the Sustainer of everything and life (Psalm 104:13-14, 27-30, Isaiah 40:26, Psalm 147:8, Jeremiah 33:25, Hebrews 1:3). - He's the ever-living (Psalm 90:2, Psalm 102:27, John 5:26, 1 Timothy 6:16, Revelation 1:8) - All-Knowing (Job 37:16, 1 John 3:20) - Self Sufficient (Isaiah 44:24, Acts 17:25) - All-Forgiving and Merciful (Exodus 34:6, Isaiah 55:7, Matthew 12:31, Luke 11:42) "In the Bible, Almighty God regrets" - Yes this is true. God feels sadness, grief and emotion in the Bible. How this is possible I don' know and I won't speculate about, but it is written. The actions of human-kind can give God joy or grief regardless of if he knows the end from the beginning. "wrestles with human" - That was an Angel that wrestled with Jacob. Hosea 12:3-5. The Jews understood that God would send "Messengers" also known as Angels to represent him. The Angels would act as representatives of God, so what the Angels do or say represent what God does or is saying. Jacob didn't truly wrestle with God, that's silly and even the Jewish people in Jesus time never imagined that. Even Moses was lead by an Angel, not God directly in person himself. "gets tired" - It never says he gets tired. He ceases from working on the 7th day, it never says it's because he's tired. Psalm 121:4 has the psalmist sing that God will never sleep or slumber. The Prophet Elijah's whole joke about the fake Gods is that when they don't answer there worshippers it's because the God probably sleeping, as opposed to the God of Israel who is truly God and so doesn't sleep or need sleep 1 Kings 18:27. "praises a prophet for walking naked in front of his daughters" - I haven't read this story yet so I can not comment. "asks his prophets to eat human poop" - I have not read this story yet so I can not comment. However, you mock these stories of the prophets and misunderstand them at your own risk. Even I don't dare mock Mohammed or his words out of true fear he may be a prophet and messenger of God. Be careful. "God doesn't have a wife, parents, kids, uncles, grandparents." -Of course, everybody knows that. The Bible says the same thing. God has no parents, uncles, or grandparents obviously. I don't know what Bible you are reading that says that. None in existence say that. When it says he has a wife (Israel) or sons and daughters (Israel, Christians, the Davidic King) it is clearly metaphorical language describing a form of relationship. God wil love, care for, and protect his people the way a Father or Husband would for their children or spouse. Jesus in the New Testament would get frustrated with his disciples when they couldn't understand basic metaphors. We shouldn't make those same mistakes. "God Almighty can not die" - Yes of course, God never dies in the Bible nor does anyone ever think he can die. What Bible are you reading that says God died or can die??? Please show me where it says that. "or become a monkey or a cockroach or a woman or a man." - Again, none of what you are saying could you ever have gotten from the Bible. Of course God can't become a monkey or a human being. What Bible are you getting any of this from??? Some special one of a kind Bible only you have? "God can't be unjust or stupid or ignorant. God Almighty can't commit suicide, steal or rape." - ...I don't think I even have to respond to this one. Anyone who has a Bible just go read and see for yourself that God never does any of these things. This is borderline blasphemous.... "This is the difference between the concept of God Almighty between Islam and the Bible." - No, you've done nothing to show any kind of difference, nor have you shown even the slightest accurate knowledge of anything the bible says. I actually showed the differences in my original post. I list the major differences between the claims of our two prophets, or rather the claims of the New Testament and the Quran. I hope you, or anyone reading, actually just read what I wrote like I have respected to read everything this man has written. "The books and the messages got corrupted, but the original messages were the same" - There is no historical proof for that though. Our New Testament seems to have been the best, or among the best preserved book of the ancient world, we can compare it to full copies in the 5th century (and 4th I think), and we can compare it to extant copies and quotations from Christian writers all the way to even the 2nd century (and even the first with the "didache" and it has been shown to have been preserved with 99% accuracy. Less than 1% are even significant changes nor do they really affect the major and core teachings at all. The academic study of this, of whether or not the New Testament has been changed or preserved, is called "Textual Criticism". Anybody can check the data for themselves.

Hi there I appreciate your respectful response, man. Your version of Christianity is so unique that I've never heard of it. So can you please tell me which sect or type of Christianity you follow and what's the name of the bible you follow. I think there are lots of common ground between us. I apologise if my comment sounded disrespectful or offensive as this was not my intention at all. There are some corrections I would like to suggest to your first comment and some explanations that I would like to add to my comment. Thanks Saeed

He (a.s.) said, ‘They were called the Hawariyoon by the people since they used to wash clothes. They cleansed the filth and dirt from clothes. The Tamtheel/ Tashbeeh (Negation of Anthropomorphism) means likening the attributes of Allah to that of humans is Prohibited .Ironically and interestinglyQuran & hadiths affirm Allah has a visible form & moves from place to place. Here are a few quranic passages & Hadiths to peruse.I cite the verses & hadith numbers for the reader to read, sometimes emphasizing the gist of it.Sura 53:1-10 Then he approached him & He came closer.Sura 81:19-25 And without doubt he saw him in the close horizon.Allah has a face sura 55:26-27, Allah has an eye sura 20:36-39,Allah is seated on the throne sura57:4, to say that mounting the throne is Metaphorical indicates Allah assumed Sovereignty over creation leaves more problems as it implies that previous to this point in time he wasn't Sovereign, and if so it means a change in nature of Allah thereby meaning he isn't omniscient, I leave this paradox to the Momineens. The Quran provides proof that the throne is literal with 8 angels holding it Sura69:17. Sahih Bukhari Vol3 Bk 41 Number 595( Moses holding one of the legs of the throne) Allah has a shin Sura 68:42 also in hadith Number 532s Vol9 Bk 93.Allah comes down to the lowest heaven in the third of the night Sahih Bukhari 2:246 Allah has a face Sahih Bukhari 9:503, Allah has a Hand& Fingers Sahih Bukhari9:508, Allah holds the heavens upon a finger Sahih Bukhari 9:511, Allah shakes hands Sunan Ibn Majah English version by Mohd Ansari Vol1 Chapter Number X1, Allah writes Sahih Bukhari 9:501, Allah has a waist Hadith 34 from Al Hadith Al Qudsiyyah By Dr Abdul Kazi.read also this sura 47:22.Allah has a visible form Hadith 43, Hadith 134 Allah will look at the people& the people will look at him, Hadith 113 And when our Lord comes to us we shall recognise him, Allah laughs Sahih Bukhari Vol1 Bk 12 Number 770, Allah created Adam in his image Sahih Bukhari vol8, Bk 74 Number 246, Allah will come to them in a shape other than the one they knowSahih Bukhari Vol 9 Bk 93, Number 532s Seven people will be shaded by his shade when there will be only his shade Sahih Bukhari Vol2 Bk 24 Number504.In a book authored by Sunni Muslim scholar of Islamic Jurisprudence there is an interesting narration that when the most Exalted sits on the Arsh( throne) it squeaks like that of a new leather saddle Vol 1 page 301 Ibn Al Qayyim publishing house.Allah has 2 right hands. and appears to Muhammad as a young man in green garments with curly hair and a beardless face( Amrud) I can provide the references for this if anyone is interested. In view of all these there are 2 conclusions 1) Allah has an actual body. If so this makes Allah an Exalted & glorified man or Allah's body is spiritual not material. If so this implies that Allah cannot be omnipresent, space less, or timeless, hence the dimensions of time, space, & matter become binding upon Allah. This being the case then it ends up in a Greek pagan concept where both God& Matter are eternal! or2) Allah assumes a visible body without this actually being his form.If so then Muslims have no basis to reject the Old Testament theophanies of God & the incarnation of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.If Allah can appear visibly, then the God of the Bible can appear as a man and take on human nature at the Incarnation without Muslims having a Legitimate basis to argue against this fact.In either case Muslims have no VALID Objections against the doctrine of the Trinity & the deity of our Lord& Saviour Jesus Christ.Asharis take it as metaphorical & Salafists take it literally but here's the twist Al Ghazali explained it away with a Seismic invented explanation Bila Kaif wala tashbeeh ( Without How? and Without Likeness) with emphasis on 42:11 "There is Nothing like him" Dr Khalid Andani an Ismaili Shia scholar even says that Sunnis shouldn't mock Christians about the Trinity when they cannot explain Allah's Anthropomorphism. And to those Quran only who say they don't believe the Hadiths, then you violate Sura 33:21& 33:36.To my moslem brethren in humanity Search the TRUTH & it will set you FREE...Ameen.

Who to fuck told you that hadith was written 200 years later ? And to destroy your point in the quran isn't written how to pray but in the hadith yes, so we do what they hadith says.

the hands , the sitting on the throne ,anything like that is a metaphor not a lateral meaning , God is also descraibed as the light of the heavens and the earth ,so does that mean God is lateral light ? ,as for the hadith mentioned at the end for me as a shia muslim it is a false hadith (that does not mean it is not mentioned in my books but a general rule is this kind of hadith is not taken as a true hadith due to several values :) )

When we say a cat sits like a human, we understand what that means. We know that humans sit on their butts so when we say a cat is also sitting on its butt. In the “metaphor” of allah sitting on the throne, what is the metaphor, where is the resemblance to the way we sit? If there is no resemblance then the metaphor makes no sense. If there is, then allah sits on his ass. Please don’t say he sits in a way that is different than the ordinary way or method of sitting, which renders the metaphor useless.

@@Mohammed-qr6gq okay I will write you from one of our tafseer books and explain what it says in english , ثم قال: من زعم أن الله من شئ فقد جعله محدثا، ومن زعم أنه في شئ فقد زعم أنه محصور، ومن زعم أنه على شئ فقد جعله محمولا. so there is a punch of hadith in there and the ayat ,translating it to english using a translate maight have wrong meanings so I will say in general what it is saying even ,first saying is استولى على ما دق وجل. وفي التوحيد which is baisclly saying God has what is high and great (you maight think this is weird due to the original text being in arabic and it has lots of deiffrent meaning and words and metaphors ) ,second saying is God is higher (not a very good translation but I couldn't find a fitter word) than everything for there is nothing close to him than another ,third saying is no far has gone farther away from him and no close has came closer to him ,he has Moderate (aint sure if that is the right word though) with every thing ,4th saying is his management is right (not very fitting) and his order is high ,and there is a hadith mentioned in the end : ( who claimed God (allah) is from something or in something or on something has done shirk ) another one is : ( who claimed God (allah) if from something made him a created and who claimed he is in something made him limited and who claimed that he is on something made him (محمول I do not know how to translate that one)

@@Mohammed-qr6gq all his claims are looked at just short enough to fill more of his own beliefs, lets look at them one by one: 1- the Quran say The God (Allah) have hands and sit on the throne. Due to the limitation of Humans to what they sense the world through touch see hear taste, the way to deliver an idea will be to metaphorically use the limb to describe a function. For example: “his words are just like a gentle hand touching my heart” my words have hand, the heart can be touched? When God say “The God hand on/over their hands” it show the full support. When god say sitting on the throne, reference of having the control over the whole words, as when a king sit on his throne means claiming it as his own. And so on, like at early tafseera 2- The God breathing into Marry, he need to read the verse carefully because it is a lie. 3- the creation of adam in God image hadith. This is common mistake, the hadith was about a persone cursing another person look, the Prophet PBUH said not to do that as God created him (the man being cursed) in his image (adam image), not in God image. This dude reading from his POV to get the results he wants

Was this executed under privilege 10 of 16 privileges available to the prophet only as described in Tafsir Al-Qortoby, that said If the prophet eyesight falls on a woman, her husband must divorce her, and her marriage is permissible for him. Ibn al-Arabi said: This is what the Imam of the Two Holy Sanctuaries said, and what has passed for the scholars in the story of Zaid of this meaning. Sura / Chapter: Al-Ahzaab (33). Ayat / Verse: 50. Revelation Order: 90. ( 50 ) O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet [and] if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the [other] believers. We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. Sura / Chapter: Al-Ahzaab (33). Ayat / Verse: 50. Revelation Order: 90. ( 50 ) 16 Privileges available to the prophet only. Tafsir Al-Qortoby: Privilege given to the Prophet: 1. The BEST of the booty goes to prophet. 2. Take a fifth of all the spoils. 3. Al Wasl (Continuing the fast through the night to the next night, without eating). 4. الرابع : الزيادة على أربع نسوة More than four wives. 5. Marry a woman that offered her self. 6. Marry a woman without the presence (or permission) of a legal guardian. 7. Marry (and have intercourse) during a state of ritual consecration and purification. 9. The annulment of oath the prophet may make to his wives. 10. If his (prophet) eyesight falls on a woman, her husband must divorce her, and her marriage is permissible for him. Ibn al-Arabi said: This is what the Imam of the Two Holy Sanctuaries said, and what has passed for the scholars in the story of Zaid of this meaning. 11. Release Safiyyah (from her captured status) and he consider her release as her dowry; 12. That he is not inherited by anyone at all. This was mentioned in the oath of absolution for when a man approaches death due to illness, most of his possessions are taken away, so that he does not have more than a third left for him. But the possessions of the prophet remained for him, as stated in the verse of inheritance and in Surat Mariam; 15. His marriage is still considered effective after his death (ALL his wives can NOT re-marry anyone else after his death. EXAMPLE: Aisha did not marry anyone); 16. If he divorces a woman she remains prohibited to everyone and may not be married "Nikah," again to someone else.
